Steps

  1. 1 Dry-brush the whole miniature with Screaming Skull to pick out raised details while keeping the recesses in shadow.
  2. 2 Base-coat exposed skin with Bony Matter or Desolate Brown, applied thick; on the female sculpts, use Bony Matter only on the visible bone and keep it off the areas meant to stay bandaged.
  3. 3 Touch up any skin paint that strayed onto the bandages using a small brush loaded with Screaming Skull.
  4. 4 Wash the bandages: Seraphim Sepia on about half the miniatures for a warm, sandy look, and Agrax Earthshade on the rest for a cooler, more desaturated look closer to the card art.
  5. 5 Reapply a lighter drybrush of Screaming Skull, keeping it to the bandages and off the skin.
  6. 6 Pick out the teeth with Titanium White, and fill in the white of each mummy's single visible eye as a base for a glow effect.
  7. 7 Paint the inside of the male mummies' mouths with Slaughter Red.
  8. 8 Paint over the white eye base with Blue Fluorescent for a glowing effect, letting it bleed slightly into the surrounding dark.
  9. 9 Paint the bases with Rakarth Flesh, the same color used for the other undead, applying at least two coats for coverage.
  10. 10 Wash the teeth and mouths with Nuln Oil to bring back detail and make the teeth look dirty.
  11. 11 Paint the female mummies' necklaces with Hoplite Gold.
  12. 12 Once dry, wash the gold necklaces with Reikland Fleshshade for contrast.
  13. 13 Base-coat the female mummies' hair with Gravelord Grey, building up a couple of coats for a darker result.
