How to Paint THE RED PRINCE - Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game
In this video I show you how to paint The Red Prince from Divinity Original Sin: The Board Game, using only the Vallejo Game Color paints included with the Kickstarter paint set.
Steps
- 1 Base-coat all the skin areas with Bloody Red, using multiple coats for full coverage.
- 2 Dry-brush a highlight of Cadmium Skin mixed into Bloody Red over the red areas to bring out the sculpted texture.
- 3 Paint the cape with a mix of Bloody Red, Warlord Purple, and Black, building up several thin coats.
- 4 Base-coat the tassets and the exposed undershirt at the neck with Goblin Green.
- 5 Base-coat all the armor and the sword hilt with Glorious Gold.
- 6 Base-coat the rock on the base with Stonewall Grey and wash it with Black Wash; once dry, cover the gold armor with a coat of Flesh Wash, fill the base runes with Dead White, and base-coat the small chest strap with Beasty Brown.
- 7 Highlight the green tassets and neck fabric folds by layering up Goblin Green mixed with progressively more Sun Yellow, finishing with a touch of Dead White.
- 8 Highlight the cape by thinning the base cape mix onto the fold ridges, then shifting warmer with added Bloody Red and Sun Yellow for the brightest layers.
- 9 Highlight the gold armor with a loaded-brush overbrush of Chainmail Silver on the raised areas, and base-coat the sword blade with pure Chainmail Silver.
- 10 Fill in the eyes with Sun Yellow, then highlight the chest strap with Beasty Brown mixed with Sun Yellow and a touch of Cadmium Skin.
- 11 Base-coat the toenails and fingernails with Black, and fill in the teeth and the spikes near the mouth with Bone White.
- 12 Paint a vertical pupil line in each eye, then shape the eyes by outlining the yellow with Bloody Red darkened by Black.
- 13 Apply a heavily thinned Black Wash as dark lining along panel edges, material transitions, fingers, and scales.
- 14 Spot-highlight raised scales, knuckles, and the face and neck focal area with Cadmium Skin mixed into Bloody Red, brightening further with added Sun Yellow.
- 15 Dry-brush pure Black over the base's white runes, then fill in the rest of the base with Black.
- 16 Highlight the toenails and fingernails with Dead White mixed into Black, and highlight the sword blade edges with Dead White mixed into Chainmail Silver, building each brighter in a final pass.
