How to Paint MAN-BAT - Batman: The Animated Series Adventures - Shadow of the Bat -- Cel Style

Steps

1. 1 After priming white, airbrush the whole miniature with Khaki to quickly cover the wide flat wing areas.
2. 2 Paint the eyes with Screaming Skull.
3. 3 Fill the inside of the mouth with Screamer Pink, then paint the teeth with Offwhite.
4. 4 Base coat the body, arms, and legs with English Uniform, staying off the stretched wing membrane so it keeps its Khaki base color.
5. 5 Switch to a smaller brush and paint the finger bones on both sides of the wings with English Uniform, again avoiding the membrane between them.
6. 6 Mix Ahriman Blue with a little Hellbound Flesh to lighten it, and base coat the pants.
7. 7 Dark line the pants' recesses and fabric ripples with Decay Black thinned with flow enhancer.
8. 8 Dark line the seam between the skin and pants, and add lines between the muscles.
9. 9 Dark line between every segment of the wing membrane, the most time-consuming part of the miniature.
10. 10 Add accent lines under the sculpted hair tufts, then paint a series of half circles inside the ears.
11. 11 Optionally dark line the inside of the mouth and eyes for extra emphasis, and outline the teeth.
12. 12 Dark line the brow ridges between the eyes and the nostrils to finish the facial details.
13. 13 Paint the base Black Grey, since Man-Bat is unaffiliated with any faction.
14. 14 Finish with pure black around the rim of the base.

  Base coat for the pants, lightened with a little Hellbound Flesh

• Black Grey (Vallejo, Model Color)

  Base coat, since Man-Bat is unaffiliated with any faction

• Decay Black (Scale75 Scalecolor)

  Dark lining across the whole miniature, mixed with flow enhancer; base rim

• English Uniform (Vallejo, Model Color)

  Base coat for the body, limbs, and wing finger bones, staying off the stretched membrane

• Hellbound Flesh (Scale75 Scalecolor)

  Mixed into Ahriman Blue to lighten it for the pants

• Khaki (Vallejo, Model Air)

  Airbrushed base coat over the whole miniature; left as the final color for the wing membrane

• Offwhite (Vallejo, Model Color)

  Base coat for the teeth

• Screamer Pink (Citadel)

  Inside of the mouth

• Screaming Skull (Citadel)

  Base coat for the eyes
