Steps

  1. 1 With the zenithal prime already done, base coat the small bits of visible skin - the hands and the part of the head exposed behind the mask - with Cadian Fleshtone, keeping the paint thin over the soft sculpted details. Base coat the pants with Karak Stone.
  2. 2 Fill in the mask's eye holes with black, base coat the shoes with German Cam. Black Brown, and base coat the machete handle with Black Grey.
  3. 3 Base coat the entire hockey mask with Ivory, avoiding the eye holes.
  4. 4 Mix Deathworld Forest, Hellbound Flesh, and a little Innsmouth Blue for a desaturated light green shirt color and base coat the shirt with it.
  5. 5 Base coat the mask's straps with black, then finish the base coat by painting the machete blade with Silver.
  6. 6 Highlight the shirt in two stages by lightening the base mix with more Hellbound Flesh (plus a touch more blue), covering the upward-facing folds, pockets, and collar with a progressively smaller area each pass.
  7. 7 Highlight the pants in two stages by mixing Ivory into Karak Stone on the upturned areas and fold tops, then highlight the boots by mixing Ivory into the German Camo Black Brown on the upper parts and visible backs.
  8. 8 Wash the entire body except the face and skin with Agrax Earthshade to dirty up the clothing.
  9. 9 Wash the skin with Reikland Fleshshade, then paint the round base with about five thin coats of Orcish Dermis for a salmon-pink color.
  10. 10 Highlight the skin in two stages: first with Cadian Fleshtone on upturned areas and the fingers, then lighten that mix with Kislev Flesh for a smaller second highlight, still picking out the fingers for readability.
  11. 11 Highlight the mask straps in two stages by mixing Ivory into the black base.
  12. 12 Wash the mask with Seraphim Sepia, letting it pool around the outer edges for a dirty, yellowed look.
  13. 13 Splatter Blood For The Blood God on the machete, drip it down onto the base, and flick extra droplets across the whole miniature and base.
  14. 14 Thin down red with flow improver and block in the red triangle and stripes on the side of the mask, oversizing the shapes slightly so they can be cleaned up later.
  15. 15 Use Black Ink to place the mask's small air holes as short lines.
  16. 16 Go back in with Ivory to refine the air holes into clean dots, highlight the mask's center and nose area while leaving the outer edge more yellowed, and clean up the edges of the red mask designs.
  17. 17 Add the sculpted axe-gash detail on the mask with a dark red, cover it with Blood for the Blood God, then wash thinned Druchii Violet around the area for bruising, and finish by reapplying Seraphim Sepia anywhere the highlights got too bright.
