How to Paint HE-MAN - Masters of the Universe: Clash for Eternia
In this video I show you how to paint He-Man from CMON’s Masters of the Universe: Clash for Eternia board game.
Steps
- 1 Prime the miniature black, then spray a white ink zenithal highlight from above.
- 2 Paint the eyes and teeth with Ivory, then add the pupils with Black Ink, dabbing off excess so it doesn't run.
- 3 Base coat all the skin with Brown Sand for a deep tan.
- 4 Base coat the loincloth and boots with Hull Red, and the furry boot tops with Screaming Skull.
- 5 Base coat the hair with Plague Brown.
- 6 Base coat the chest plate, straps, sword, and (on the mounted version) the shield with Natural Steel, then paint the shield's inlays and the chest plate's cross and embellishments with Mephiston Red.
- 7 Highlight the skin's muscles and face - forehead, cheekbones, nose, chin, jawline - and the fingers with Ivory mixed into Brown Sand, building up several passes toward almost-pure Ivory over a smaller area each time.
- 8 Once dry, glaze the whole skin with thinned Brown Sand to tie the highlight layers together, then deepen the deepest shadows and material transitions - including between the fingers and on the face - with a Reikland Fleshshade wash.
- 9 Highlight the hair with Plague Brown mixed with progressively more Lilith Yellow, then a touch of Ivory for the brightest pass, then reinforce the shadows with a thinned Cokum Copper and Plague Brown mix.
- 10 Wash the boots, underpants, and material transitions with Agrax Earthshade, and wash the chest armor, sword, and (on the mounted version) the shield's underside and rivets with Nuln Oil.
- 11 Reapply Screaming Skull highlights to the furry boot tops once the wash is dry.
- 12 Highlight the boots and underpants by mixing progressively more Beherit Red into the Hull Red base, finishing near-pure, then knock it back with a thin Hull Red glaze over the underpants.
- 13 Base coat the bronze metal pieces with Tinny Tin, highlight the raised rivets and edges with Silver mixed in, then edge-highlight the chest piece, sword, and (on the mounted version) the shield with pure Silver.
- 14 Highlight the red armor and shield details with Bloody Red.
- 15 Base coat the display base with Iraqi Sand, pick out the stones with Cold Grey, wash with Agrax Earthshade, paint the rim Black, then finish with a matte varnish spray.
