How to Paint BEAT COPS - Batman: The Animated Series Adventures - Shadow of the Bat -- Cel Style
In this video I show you how to paint the original and alternate sculpts of the Beat Cops from Batman: The Animated Series Adventures - Shadow of the Bat, in a cel-shaded, animated style.
Steps
- 1 Base coat the pants and cap with Arianrhod Blue.
- 2 Fill in the eye pupils early with a fine black pen so any mistakes can still be covered up.
- 3 Mix Bosh Chesnut into German Camo Black Brown for the dark-skinned officers' hands and face.
- 4 Block in the whites of the eyes, shape the eye area, and clean up any pen overflow.
- 5 Mix Offwhite into German Camo Black Brown for the light-skinned officers' hands and face.
- 6 Go back in with the pen to add a dark outline around the whites of the eyes for definition.
- 7 Paint the hair a different color per officer: pure black, Chink Orange, Cokum Copper, and German Camo Black Brown, including sideburns and mustaches on the alternate sculpts.
- 8 Paint the hat brim Decay Black, then finish the rest of the hat body in Arianrhod Blue, keeping clear of the badge.
- 9 Base coat the upper uniform shirt with Cold Grey.
- 10 Paint the shoes pure black, then paint the gun, holster, and belt in Black Grey.
- 11 Paint the hat, chest, and arm badges plus the belt buckle with Yellow Ochre.
- 12 Paint the base with Stegadon Scale Green, the faction color for the Gotham City Police Department, and pick out the belt loops in Arianrhod Blue.
- 13 Paint teeth into the open mouths with Offwhite, then add a thin Pink Horror line to separate the top and bottom rows.
- 14 Dark line every seam, crease, and separation between elements using black thinned with flow enhancer, including the holster, belt, badge texture, collar, face, and fingers.
- 15 Finish by painting pure black around the rim of each base.
