How to Paint BEAST MAN - Masters of the Universe: Clash for Eternia
In this video I show you how to paint Beast Man from CMON’s Masters of the Universe: Clash for Eternia board game. The display base follows the same method as my He-Man tutorial.
Steps
- 1 Paint the eyes with Ivory, dot in black pupils, and fill the inside of the mouth with black - doing these small fiddly bits first so mistakes here don't ruin the rest of the paint job.
- 2 Base coat all the fur - arms, legs, and around the face, but not the face itself or the mane - with Skrag Brown, kept thin (a second coat may be needed).
- 3 Base coat the mane around the neck with Mephiston Red.
- 4 Base coat the loincloth with Ahriman Blue, and pick out the ear.
- 5 Base coat the center of the face with Screaming Skull, cleaning up around the eyes as you go.
- 6 Paint the eye markings and upper lip with thinned Ahriman Blue (flow enhancer helps), keeping it loose rather than an exact match to the artwork.
- 7 Highlight the mane in layers: Beherit Red across the upper fur, then Tiamat Orange inside that, then Marduk Yellow inside the orange.
- 8 Highlight the skin: Tiamat Orange on the tops of the muscles, then a Tiamat Orange and Bronze Fleshtone mix for a second highlight, then add Ivory for a third.
- 9 Glaze Bloodletter Glaze over the highlighted mane, and separately glaze a thinned Skrag Brown and glaze medium mix over all the skin, to blend each set of highlight layers together.
- 10 Wash the red mane fur with Carroburg Crimson, and shade the orange fur's shadows with Fuegan Orange.
- 11 Highlight strands of both the orange and red fur with Marduk Yellow, then settle it back down with another pass of Fuegan Orange shading and a Bloodletter Glaze.
- 12 Highlight the loincloth by mixing Ivory into the Ahriman Blue base, then wash it with Drakenhof Nightshade.
- 13 Paint the shoulder pads, mane spikes, and wristbands as a true metallic: mix Silver into Mephiston Red, highlight with more Silver, then shade with a Biel-Tan Green wash mixed into the red-and-silver.
- 14 Paint the medallion with a Silver and Ahriman Blue mix, highlight with more Silver, then wash the crevices with Drakenhof Nightshade.
- 15 Base coat the belt with Gold, and shade it by mixing Druchii Violet into the gold.
- 16 Boost the orange fur's shadows with a half-and-half wash of Agrax Earthshade and Fuegan Orange, and push the skin highlights further on the hands and feet with more of the Tiamat Orange and Bronze Fleshtone mix. Paint the fingernails and toenails with Black Grey.
- 17 Finish the face: wash with Reikland Fleshshade, highlight in layers with Screaming Skull mixed into Ivory, highlight the ear, pick out the teeth with Ivory, and add a touch of Ivory into the Ahriman Blue eye markings for a final highlight.
- 18 Base coat the display base with Cold Grey and Iraqi Sand, following the same method as the He-Man tutorial.
