How to Paint BATTLECAT (Mounted He-Man) - Masters of the Universe: Clash for Eternia
In this video I show you how to paint Battlecat, the mounted version of He-Man, from CMON’s Masters of the Universe: Clash for Eternia board game.
Steps
- 1 Prime the miniature black, then spray a white ink zenithal highlight from above.
- 2 Base coat the eyes and all of Battlecat's sculpted stripes with Averland Sunset, building up several thin coats for solid coverage.
- 3 Base coat the skin with Uniform Green, taking care to avoid the yellow stripes.
- 4 Mix Silver with Khorne Red for a reddish, purplish metallic, and use it for the armor and the metal clasp on the belly strap.
- 5 Base coat the belly strap with Mournfang Brown.
- 6 Paint the inside of the mouth with Screamer Pink, pick out the toenails with Black, then paint the teeth with Ivory.
- 7 Highlight the skin with several passes of Uniform Green mixed with progressively more Goblin Flesh, finishing with Toxic Waste Green on the brightest raised areas of the tail and leg muscles.
- 8 Highlight the stripes with a mix of Averland Sunset and Lilith Yellow, applied just above each green skin highlight.
- 9 Deepen the skin's shadows with a Biel-Tan Green wash in the deepest recesses, and use it as a dark separating line between the armor or strap and the skin.
- 10 Shade the armor by mixing Black Grey into the silver-and-Khorne Red mix as a thin glaze on the areas not facing up and around ridges, smooth the transitions with a glaze-medium version of the mix, then boost the highlights by adding more Silver on the edges and upward-facing surfaces.
- 11 Shade the teeth with Seraphim Sepia.
- 12 Highlight the belly strap with a Mournfang Brown and Cokum Copper mix (adding Ivory for a brighter pass), using edge highlights and a stippled pattern for a worn leather look, then wash the whole strap with Agrax Earthshade.
- 13 Highlight the toenails by mixing Ivory into the Black base, then reapply Ivory to the teeth once dry to bring out the highlight.
- 14 Base coat the display base's rocks with Cold Grey and the roots with Rhinox Hide, dry-brush Ivory over the rocks to highlight them, wash the rocks and roots with Nuln Oil, then wash the rest of the base with Agrax Earthshade.
